i'm Franciuus (Francesco Farabi) from italy, and sorry but i don't absolutely speak german... and i am a real bad english speaker, so i hope what i say is understandable.
this year i have the honour to be in the jury of the Games Day Italy 2008 and i have some few words i whant let to the great german friends i meet this year:
Matt Cexwish ok i know he isn't german but i see he is registered here so i post this for him now... :P
A hurricane of madness and sympathy, an artist that someone would expect, with easy ways, mad and most friendly, he distributed pieces of advice and paid compliments to everyone, he welcomed everyone with a broad smile and a joke. A humorous and most pleasant person... And guys!!!, an incredible diorama maker and artist! His golden diorama is something that can't even be described, and I certainly wouldn't know how to start! Thank you very much for everything and for coming here to Italy, and I really hope to meet you again soon.
Christian Bestienmeister
We've met last year and this time you've confirmed my idea:
1) that you are a fantastic painter! Technically one of the best I've seen. Every miniature of yours is a small discovery that gets appreciated more and more if observed closely: class, art and perfect colouring. Amazing.
2) that you are a marvellous person, always disposable and friendly, and it has been an honour to meet you again. I hope to see you again next year!
Stephan Rath THE artist painter of the Italian GD 2008... In order to describe what my feeling were upon observing your miniatures I can only say that I got similar ones only with the miniatures of the unreachable Automaton. Absolute top-notch class... Any miniature near yours looked like it had been painted with a large brush. You are truly a painter of a different class. A well-deserved sword, and personally I can say it was one of the best miniatures I've ever held in my hands, if not the best...
As if this weren't enough, I can add that it's been a pleasure to get to know you, another pleasant and available person. Rest assured that the kind words you've used for us are totally reciprocated. My sincere congratulations! I won't look at miniatures with the same eye after having seen yours!
thank you for the very good time we have toghether!!! and congratulation to german painters for the incredible well deserved prizes of this year!!!
ave
Franciuus
p.s. SimonM and Max, i'm shure you come this year!!! i'm worry we can meet again and i hope we can meet soon.
for Goatman: Christian say to me that you can't come at the last moment, i'm very worried because will be an honour for me to know you (my first hero on cmon hehehe), i hope we have another chance to meet somewere in the world.
Yeah was really sad that i wasn´t able to come ... but work held me back from finishing anything in time so i decided not to come in the last moment.
Chris´ preview of GD italy makes me jealous and even sadder not being there this year.
I won´t miss it next year for sure, btw you´re absolutely welcome on german GD next year
franciuus, thanks a lot for your kind words. I will write on farabi.it as well, only want to say that it was the best GD I ever went to. Very strong categories, great organisation and very nice and polite people. Everybody was laughing and jokeing, no matter how the jury decided. I hope to see you in Cologne some day.
I will post some pictures of my entrys soon.
Edit: Mit dieser älteren Mini habe ich Bronze in Open gemacht:
She was laughting as well, on the inside...:D... I am cereal...
Once back and things something like settled I wanted to thank all Italian Painters... All of you... I will write at the Legio Forum soon, people have to know that this Event is something incredible and absolutely unique in the world of Miniature painting, as I think... The most friendly, open minded enviorment you can imagine...^_^... Even losing (which I seriously thought is going to happen...) I had not the slightest doubt about coming all the way down to Milano / Modena, I had a great time all of the time and I am happy I could talk to so many people, now faces instead of solely names... Of course the appreciation of my work makes me feel great, but it´s also to know, that there is a place in the world I am mostly welcome...^_^...
To Stephan and Christian (to stay polite I will write in English, so our Guest may understand this as well...)... Thank you both for being there and keeping a balance between my running mind (and words...:D...) and your balanced temper...^-^... It was a good feeling knowing that there is a fraction of us somewhere... The level of painting was incredible and I changed more then one point of view at least... Congratulations you both for your nearly perfect Miniatures and I hope to see you again soon... somewhere in the world......
Here you find some pictures of the event I took...
Chris forgot to mention that they will find themselves wearing concrete shoes at the bottom of a lake if they consider to participate the GD Italy next year with such amazing miniatures.
It's great to hear that it was such a great and friendly get-together in Italy and I hope that the german GD in cologne will be as hospitable and humorous as the GD in Italy!
Yet another reason why I love this hobby: It breaks borders between generations, level of education, occupation and even real borders between countries.
