Prima di tutto un breve stralcio di storia:
"Étienne de Vignolles, detto "La Hire" (Vignoles, 1390 – Montauban, 11 gennaio 1443), è stato un condottiero francese durante la Guerra dei Cent'anni.
Si è guadagnato il suo soprannome sul campo di battaglia, per la violenza e per l'ira che l'hanno reso famoso (infatti, ire, nel francese d'allora, significava collera).
La Hire combatté la prima volta sul suolo di Coucy, contro i Borgognoni e gli inglesi (nel 1418, durante la Guerra dei cent'anni). Tre anni dopo tornò in guerra e, come tutti i militari francesi, difese la propria patria nella Battaglia di Baugé. La sua abilità con la spada lo rese famoso in tutta la Francia; nel 1427 difese Montargis dall'assedio insieme al Bastardo d'Orléans; fu quindi convocato da Carlo VII in persona, il quale gli domandò di partecipare alla difesa di Orléans assediata. La Hire accettò e, nel 1429, partì alla volta di Orléans. La battaglia vide combattere grandi eroi francesi, tra cui Giovanna d'Arco e Jean Poton de Xaintrailles, carissimo amico di Étienne. Nello stesso anno, collezionò altre due vittorie, battendo ancora una volta gli inglesi a Patay ed a Jargeau. Nel 1430 liberò Barbazan dalla prigionia, a Château-Gaillard. Nel 1431 si diresse verso Rouen nel tentativo di salvare Giovanna d'Arco, impresa che fallì miseramente, dal momento che lui stesso cadde in mano nemica.
Riuscì a fuggire e continuò la guerra, guadagnando numerosi successi a Dourdan, in Artois, nell'Île-de-France ed anche in Piccardia.
Suo fratello Amadoc de Vignolles fu ucciso durante la presa di Creil da parte di John Talbot (nella primavera del 1434).
La Hire vinse la battaglia di Gerbevoy (1435) e, in seguito a questa, fu nominato capitano generale di Normandia (143.

Ho quindi deciso di rappresentarlo durante una delle sue ultime battaglie, pieno di sangue e ferite ma fiero di esserne uscito vittorioso. Spero piaccia, mi ci son impegnato e mi sono molto divertito!

First a quick bit of history:
"Etienne de Vignolles, called" The Hire "(Vignoles, 1390 - Montauban, 11 January 1443) was a French commander during the Hundred Years War.
He earned his nickname on the battlefield, for violence and anger that made him famous (in fact, anger, the French of that time, meant anger).
