[bulling]: Rumour has it that bulling was introduced to British regiments in India to occupy their spare time, which would otherwise be spent drinking or womanising. Bulling is officially not practised now but the term still exists, being replaced by the words 'polished to a deep shine', but it means exactly the same thing
So geht es:
Initially use a hot spoon to burn down the dimples (if a new boot) and build up the layers; this can take ages before it turns out right. If older boots make sure they are really clean before bullying.
Polish with Kiwi Parade Gloss and plain water, I didn't really use spit; you could get a special bulling cloth from Sylvette which worked wonders...just keep it damp and tight around you fingers. Rub around in small circles alternating the water and polish...as the shine started to build up reduce the amount of polish and make the circles bigger. I used to put a layer of dark tan every now and again it gave the black a deeper colour I thought. Or that could have been the alcohol working.
Cotton wool and water helped get that final shine; under a running tap in the washroom.
I didn't use tights to get that final shine..the wife would've killed me.
Some of the lads used Klear floor polish but if it rained it turned white...a good product was Morello which I think was German.
Better still; there is always someone who'll do them for a few beer tokens.

Für den Fall, daß ihr mal Langeweile habt, den Weihnachtsmann gebt oder zu einer Beerdigung geht. Muß ja nicht die eigene sein.
